YY cable with 2 cores of 1.5mm² cross-sectional area, constructed with Class 5 flexible plain copper conductors to BS EN 60228. The cores carry PVC insulation and are identified by sequential numbering printed on black insulation, with a grey PVC outer sheath over the laid-up cores. It is rated 300/500V and manufactured to EN 50525-2-11, IEC 60227 and VDE 0250, with a maximum conductor operating temperature of 70°C and flame retardancy to BS EN 60332-1-2. This is an unscreened cable — it has no braid or foil shield — used for control and instrumentation circuits where screening is not required. A 2-core YY has no earth core.
